Two main compacts govern the sharing of ticketing information with other states. These are the Drivers License Compact (DLC) and Non-Resident Violators Compact.
The DLC requires member states to report tickets received by drivers in their State to the home State of the driver. Included in the compact are provisions which allow member states to report actions on out-of-state drivers to their licensing state, require home states to take the same action on violations reported to them by other states as if the violation occurred in the home state ands give the right to deny issuance of a driver's license if it is a suspended in another state.
Not all States participate. Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Tennessee and Wisconsin do not, but may have other arraignments to share information.
Another compact is the Non-Resident Violator Compact (NRVC) which will suspend your home State Driver's Licenses if you fail to pay an out of State.
The Non-Resident Violator Compact requires member states to suspend the driver's license of those who get traffic tickets for moving violations in other states and fail to pay them. The states that are not members of the NRVC are Alaska, California, Michigan, Montana, Oregon and Wisconsin.
A DUI from another State can be used to enhance a pending DUI in Florida. The State must still prove the out of State prior belongs to the person charged in Florida and that can create some legal situations of which we can take full advantage.
